About The Website
The website is aimed at creating common information data base of Greater Altai regions: the Altai Territory and the Altai Republic (Russia), East Kazakhstan Oblast (Kazakhstan), Xinjian Uigur Autonomous Region (China), Bayan Ulgii and Hovd Aimaks (Mongolia).
Cross border cooperation between Russia, Kazakhstan, China and Mongolia at the meeting point of the four states has a long history. Throughout centuries a vast mountainous and steppe territory of Greater Altai was tied together by cultural, ethnic, political, migratory, trade and economic bonds.
For the past decades we have been better informed about far away countries than about neighbouring regions and states. The mission of the website “Altai International” is to keep Greater Altai inhabitants abreast of their neighbours’ life and of interesting events one can take part in. Participation in such events is believed to strengthen diplomatic, business, friendly, so to say, amicable relations. For this reason such categories as “News” and “Calendar” are always updated.
The category “Regions” provides with a brief overview of the territories, their symbols and music, along with pictures and links to mass media and related websites.
The website also offers publications, on-line interviews, reports on conferences and projects dealing both with regional and international cooperation in Altai and Central Asia. This information along with “Useful Links” page will be of great interest not only for specialists in international cooperation, but for all those concerned.
The category “Legislation” makes it possible to systemize the materials on the establishment of a common legal basis for further cross border cooperation. Bilateral and multilateral agreements and treaties between Russia, Kazakhstan China and Mongolia, legal basis of cross boarding cooperation between the above mentioned countries, interregional agreements are available here. The information will be helpful for entrepreneurs, as it also includes data important for efficient external economic activities.
The site also contains electronic editions of international eco-cultural scientific magazine “The Altai Messenger”. It is the only publication that circulates throughout all Greater Altai regions.
